Minced Meat on Skewers Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef (or your choice of ground meat)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spiciness)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Skewers (metal or bamboo, soaked in water if using bamboo)
  • Tzatziki sauce, hummus, or your favorite dipping sauce (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well to evenly distribute the spices.

  2. Add the chopped parsley and cilantro (if using) to the mixture and continue to mix until all the ingredients are well combined.

  3. If you're using bamboo skewers, make sure to soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill or stovetop.

  4. Take a handful of the meat mixture and shape it into an elongated sausage shape around each skewer, making sure the meat is firmly packed and smooth.

  5. Brush the meat skewers lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking and enhance the flavor.

  6. Preheat your grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat. If using a stovetop skillet, add a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking.

  7. Grill or cook the skewers for about 4-6 minutes per side, or until the meat is cooked through and slightly charred. The cooking time may vary based on your chosen meat and the thickness of the skewers, so use a meat thermometer to ensure they are fully cooked (internal temperature of 160°F or 71°C for ground meat).

  8. Once the skewers are cooked to your liking, remove them from the heat.

  9. Serve your minced meat skewers hot with tzatziki sauce, hummus, or your favorite dipping sauce, along with pita bread or a side salad.

Enjoy your homemade minced meat skewers! They're great for a barbecue or a quick and flavorful meal.
